lab accurate diagnostics for telemedicine

senzo is developing an amplified lateral flow (alf) test combining the accuracy of pcr with the simplicity and affordability of lateral flow

THE FUTURE OF HEALTHCARE

The Covid-19 outbreak has expedited the implementation of telemedicine, which is primarily attributed to the convergence of customer demand, provider acceptance, and swift policy adjustments. Telehealth has proven to be a crucial source of aid and has the potential to restructure our worldwide healthcare systems, thereby improving accessibility, affordability, and patient outcomes. This adoption is driven systemically, encompassing patients, providers, payers, regulators, and investors.

Senzo is supporting this transformation by developing a range of remote diagnostics which will provide near real-time laboratory accuracy at a price point comparable to simple lateral flow tests which can be conducted by the patient. These diagnostics will provide Telehealth professionals with the data needed to confirm their diagnosis and enhance their treatment plans.

ACCURACY

The Senzo Amplified Lateral Flow test (ALF) uses a distinct amplification stage to deliver PCR accuracy within a Lateral Flow form factor. Recent third-party, head-to-head, blind studies carried out by Sheffield University, University College London and LateralDX have demonstrated the accuracy of the technology against PCR. Across 75 positive and 75 negative samples, the results indicated that ALF tests had >99% consistency with PCR. Furthermore, ALF tests were successful in identifying positive samples with low viral load, such as those with Ct values higher than 30. By bringing PCR and laboratory Accuracy to patient in a self-test form factor we hope to be able to add rigorous accuracy to telediagnosis.

ACCURATE DX + TELEMEDICINE

  • Laboratory accurate self-tests, combined with modern remote care will provide millions of people with access to safe and appropriate coverage regardless of their location.

  • Better remote diagnostics will reduce the the cost of healthcare and increases efficiency by improving long-term treatment management, reducing logistic requirements, reducing lab costs and minimising hospital stays.

  • Telehealth has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person consultations, and in some cases even more so, with better outcomes and higher consumer satisfaction. Laboratory accurate self-tests will further improve the wider service capability.

  • Telehealth technologies have been found to reduce barriers to care for the consumer while providing them access to services that might not have been available before. The additional of high accuracy diagnostics will add important evidence based decision making and patient piece of mind to the offering.
